Positive: An exceptional hostal; the best that we've stayed at in Spain. Clean, comfortable and with everything needed for a good stay. Superb shower. Fantastic lighting throughout. Perfect temperature without needing heating or cooling. Rooms look like you're the first person to stay in them. Nice and dark for sleeping thanks to shutters. Mostly quiet. WiFi is good. Street parking is plentiful even if some spaces might be a minute's walk away. Communication by the owner is excellent. Check-in and out is easy. Bars, restaurants, a pharmacy, supermarket and shops are within a minute's walk from the hostal.

Negative: The room we had faced the square so there was some noise from the business below when they left - but it wasn't late, at around 11pm or so. There's also the occasional noisy vehicle that can be heard from that room. This isn't the case with other rooms. As a positive, compared with most accommodation in Spain, including 4 star hotels, the sound insulation at Hostal Calaya is very good.

Positive: Great hotel, cozy and clean! Seems quite new! Had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable! The staff wasn’t speaking english but was super friendly and helpful! We had a good stay!

Negative: Tiny downfall was the sound isolation to the corridor. There was a gap under the door, therefore anytime somebody was walking in the corridor you could hear it.

Positive: We needed somewhere to stay just one night near Murcia International airport as our flight got in late and this location was perfect. An easy drive of about 5km and easy to park our hire car outside the hotel. The hotel is very small so reception is not manned this time of night but we were asked to advise about 20 mins or so before we were likely to arrive and there was a very pleasant young man there to greet us. He didn't speak much English and my Spanish is limited but we managed with google translate. He gave us a key for the front door and told us the code to access our room. The room although basic was modern, spotlessly clean, quiet and had everything you need for a short stay including a kettle and some bottles of water. The guy on reception advised us of 3 places in the town where we could get breakfast and we ate at La Gallata just round the corner which was lovely and very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay here again.

Negative: The pillows were a bit hard.

Summary: Budget hotel but clean and comfortable in a good location close to the airport

Positive: Having a lift is great, especially as we get older! AC worked! Clean, modern. Just a few rooms, so no queue for the lift etc. Great restaurant in village. within easy walk.

Positive: We loved the location and helpful staff. The bed was very comfortable and it had a modern bathroom. This room had a terrace, which was a nice addition. There were shops close by for everything you would need. We would stay again.

Negative: We did not have tea/coffee facilities. However, there was a cafe open early to get hot drinks. The room could have had a fridge to keep drinks cold.
